Avoid like the plague!
They charge you for doing nothing other than delay matters and leave everything down to the very last minute. Can’t be bothered attitude and lose documents and then don’t send out all the documentation required for signature.
Don’t pay any attention to the supposedly “good” five star reviews.

I'm a financial advisor and recommend them regularly for my Equity Release clients. They are the best company I've ever used and have just solved a very complex case that 2 other solicitors couldn't resolve. Highly recommended.

I was introduced to Equilaw for administering my recent lifetime mortgage application. The service I received was very good at all stages of the process. All aspects were dealt with in an efficient and streamlined manner which was much appreciated as I am a busy self-employed person. All the staff I crossed paths with were helpful and courteous. My experience with Equilaw really helped me to navigate what was an important transition in my life and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all concerned in the process for making it as easy and gentle for me as it was.

Equilaw have just completed a Lifetime Mortgage on my property in just over a month. Admittedly my circumstances are relatively simple, but all went smoothly and overall this is an excellent outcome. The staff are pleasant to deal with, efficient and proactively contact you over specific issues. The home visit in these trying times was particularly welcome and well managed. Overall, it has been a pleasure dealing with them, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Absolutely terrible company to deal with totally unprofessional. Robert Davies Boulton that dealt with my account broke data protection on all but one telephone conversation . Never asked for any security details to confirm he was speaking to me. Gave me a figure for their fees but totally forgot about the lenders fee of £500 then said it wasn’t on the system ! Eventually admitting it was his error. I assumed he was new to the job and hadn’t been trained correctly but according to LinkedIn he has worked for the company for over two years!! This shows that staff are not trained correctly. They charged almost £2000 in fees so I expected them to deal with my equity release correctly and professionally. Avoid like the plague!!
Would also like to add that the letters sent were in a very small font which I struggled to read and photocopies were very poor quality.
I wish I had read the other reviews on here before using this company and I would have used a different firm. The only good reviews seem to be from equity release companies that have recommended them not from the clients that have actually used them.

I have dealt with Equilaw now for about 2 years and I must say their service is excellent. I first made contact to Millie, who was very helpful and reassuring when I wasn't quit sure of something, she is really great to deal with. When the case was proceeding I had a lot of chats with Robert Davies Boulton who kept me informed right through the processes with various clients, he always got back to me when requested to, very eager to help all the time. I would recommend Equilaw to anyone who wants a stress free experience.

Equilaw handled the equity release re-mortgage of our property very efficiently and quickly. All the paperwork was done by email except for one home visit to sign witnessed documents, everything was very prompt and with no delay, the entire process from first steps to completion was done within 3 weeks. They are courteous, helpful and always communicative, available on the phone for queries etc. Their fees were also very reasonable! We highly recommend them.

Terrible, if I could give a lower rating I would, worst legal firm I’ve ever dealt with. Started off with my initial documents arriving about a house that was not even mine, then when I got the correct ones and returned them to their correspondence office they lost it all for a week between there & their Gloucester office. Why you cannot send it direct is illogical.
Then the one page identity document signed in my house was forwarded to the financing company in such poor quality copy by Equilaw the financing company asked them for a better copy-and that only got dealt with after I phoned to ask why my expected early March completion had not happened by the beginning of April.
Between all this, I had trouble getting through by phone on more than a couple of occasions and when I did you only got through to someone who took messages and the promised 'return' calls rarely happened.
However, the completion invoice to pay Equilaw fee arrived a week BEFORE the anticipated completion of 19 April, the first and only prompt action I saw. Stupidly, I paid it on the day it arrived, but when the remortgage completed a week later they couldn’t even be bothered to call or email to let me know, despite the promise when I paid. Perhaps because I only bought the basic £899 service they were not that interested, or most equity release clients rarely come back anyway, who knows, but the service was not worth the £9, let alone the best part of a grand. UPDATE; I responded to the firms request to contact them about this review. In the 10 paragraph reply I got there was three apologies for various matters they could not wriggle out of, five cases of blaming others; the broker, the postal company, the lenders, the bank holiday & the IT team, but finished up by telling me my review was insulting & asked me to amend or remove it.....NO.
