I contacted Tayntons to draft an agreement for me, and was informed that I needed to pay upfront for an hour's consultation, which I agreed to.

During the meeting, I received some tax advice—most of which I was already familiar with—and was surprised to be told near the end that they probably couldn’t draft the agreement. A week later, after following up, they confirmed this.

I raised a complaint in writing, but was eventually told that despite being unable to assist with the agreement, I had received "substantive and useful advice" in line with their fixed-fee meeting criteria.

For comparison, I consulted two other firms. Langley Wellington had in-depth phone conversations with me at no charge before concluding they lacked the necessary expertise. Willans, on the other hand, confirmed they could help and offered a free initial meeting with a partner.

Based on my experience, I can't recommend Tayntons. There are other firms that won’t charge upfront for an initial consultation and offer clearer guidance on what they can and cannot do.

I sold my flat using Taynton's. It should have been a straightforward sale, but due to my landlord's (useless) solicitor the whole thing became a long-running ordeal. Throughout that, Nicola and Kate were really determined in chasing up delayed paperwork and I found that they were responsive whenever I got in touch for updates - which was daily by the end! I really appreciated them fighting my corner and found them detailed orientated and professional.

I recently looked to Tayntons for some legal advise, only to spend several weeks still uninformed and receiving a "6 minute" phone call. I don't know if it's lack of communication from whoever deals with the emails or unprofessionalism actual legal advisors. After many emails and many times told, "we'll get back to you, we've told X person", I lost patience and trust. I even gave time for at least an apology after my last email, which also didn't happen. I am sorry to say this, but you need to do better.

This solicitor has held up a relatively simple conveyancing chain repeatedly. Not through challenges of complex enquires, though lack of resource or timely review. I would not recommend this solicitor for conveyancing.
